Wednesday 24 March 1999

Technically it's Thursday, but until I go to sleep, it's still Wednesday. I just got back from the Crue concert. I have totally mixed feelings about it. Noise Therapy, the opening bank kicked ass. Crue's stage show was fantastic. The sound system sucked for the first ten or so minutes and then they took Vince's wireless mike away, and gave him cord. That helped, but it took most of the show to get to the point where the vocals were balanced with the music. Add to that, that the only advertizing for this show was word of mouth and the marque and that it's 1999, not 1989, you end up with a theater that is about 70% full. Not enough. The only way I found the ticket office number for this concert was out on Crue's webpage. Also, the encore song was the Sex Pistol's, "Anarchy in the UK" - COME ON ... one song? And it's not even theirs? Now mind you it rocked. It rocked hard.

The hardest part was that it was weird to see that many 35 year old's in one place. Some of them with much more milage on them than others. I am really glad that I didn't do that many drugs in the 80's. I also have never really looked at what made "80" style. Like the jeans, t-shirt and suit vest, or leather vest. Ran into a couple of 20 something punks and that was cool, and ran into a lot of people that looked like life had treated them well. For Karise this was a dream come true, this band has been with her since she was 6 (she just turned 23, Crue's first album came out in 81-82). She tried to get a chance to see the band, all she ended up doing was giving a show to some very appreciative roadies and some very happy college boys. Karise has HUGE tits. We are really talking all caps HUGE here.

[The funny thing is that when we hooked up, she had to point them out to me and have me really look at other women. See, I'm not a tit man. I'm a face, ass, nipple man (in that order). But, be that as it may...]

So, I guess if this was a review I would have to say, "if you don't know who Crue is, don't bother. If you have listened to Crue on the radio and liked one or two of their songs, don't bother. If you have 3 or more Crue CD's, tapes or vinyl, listen to it again, and then go. If you are a sociology major, take a tape recorder, and go look at a very interesting segment of the population. If you are male, 32 - 38, just go. If you are female in that age range, and looked hot 10 years ago, don't go, unless a) you are still damn hot looking or b) just loved the music.
