Ok this has to be quick. I've got about 20 minutes to get this entered, then get ready and go. (Like you care about this particular detail.>Swingman has been talking about swing dance for about the last 6 month since he started. Tonight I'm going to go see what it's all about. I went to a club once about 2 years ago and it was kinda cool.
I got Motley Crue tickets today, Karise was shocked and happy (At some point I'm going to have to explain our "relationship"). The concert is tomorrow. Ya know, I've had a relatively boring last 6 weeks as far as events go, and now I'm seeing Crue tomorrow, Offspring on Sunday, and Going to NorWesCon next Friday. Ok, that's not true, I have just not gone to three major events in 8 days anytime recently.
The Y2K BS is getting deeper. Had one of the "Marketing Analysts" go off on Oakland today. He (Oakland) came over to me later to say, "I understand why you hate it when I start a sentence off with the phase 'you this' or 'you that'.
Apparently this person had a behavior change in their program. Something worked 3 weeks ago, but not today. So get this. Oakland is the Y2K lead. We have not sent a lick of code out to be tested. This "analyst" somehow figured out that Oakland must have changed something on their computer, in order to break it.
I write software in a non software shop. This is hell. I've been an FTE for 7 months now. Another 5 gets me a year, and another 17 gets me two. At that point I should be landing Marseilles. Our procedures are from the dark ages, our clients are from farther back. Our code breaks on WIN98. It is currently a huge joke. Add to this that my room mate is feeling that I'm a bit snippy, indicates to me that my attitude is somewhere near the toilet.
Ok, back to the "analyst". Guess what, 2 weeks ago a piece of software written in VB6 was placed on their machine. We're not sure if that is the smoking gun, but it probably is.
I need to get out of here if I want to make it downtown for my lesson.
