A posting to brianna, I'll fix it as an entry later.

****************************************

Hi there, Sid again. It's about 3:30 am out here in Portland, and I'm heading up to see my grandmother today for her 90th birthday, went to the ballet with one of my best friends last night (?earlier this evening?) and got up this morning about 6.

So I guess what I'm saying is that I'm a little punch drunk and I'll probably ramble a bit.

first off, the phase m'lady is an SCA term of respect for all women, not a statement of ownership.

second, Isis was cool, as was Jason of Star Command, (yes, saturday morning cartoons from my time) it's nice to see that you have some friends over 30. One of the things I enjoy about your postings is to see the world from the point of view of 21. It's really easy for me to look at my life and say, "damn, I've had it rough". Hell, I was unemployed, living with my parents (for the 3rd time) only 8 months ago, and now I'm in a place where I'm doing REALLY well for myself.

It was a huge wake up call to listen to Silver Chairs new song Anthem for the year 200, and then hear my self ask, "what do they have to be upset about?"

I really hope that you keep your journal open to us after you move to boston. I won't plead (but I will think about it :-)

Your post yesterday was just flipping powerful. My dad once told me, "son, your mom was never a bra-burning feminist, no, she was a letter writing feminist, much more dangerous." So I forget A LOT of times that women are raised and treated differently than men. I had two sister (I was the oldest and we're 18 months apart - like clock work (mom wanted ALL of the diapers done in one fell 5 year swoop)) so there are things that I take for granted, like "women can do anything men can do"

It confuses me when women defer to men. Especially when women whom I respect, yield their opinions to men that I don't respect.

Another thing, do you have any ex's who are best friends? I think Lou might be, and I know you look forward to talking with him when you go home, but do you have any male friends that you used to go out with and have sex with (no, I'm not looking for details). I guess the question is this, "why do some people put a lot of time and energy into a relationship and then throw the friendship away just because they stopped having sex with each other?"

god this has rambled.

let me clear a few points, then try to give you the jist of why I started this thing.

1) SCA, Society for Creative Anarchism. It's a historical society focusing on the middle ages. If you have ever seen people dressed up in armor beating on each other, it was probably us.

2) You say some fantastic things that touch me.

3) Thank you.

4) If you are ever in portland, (or where ever) and you hear about a ballet featuring James Canfield's "Go ask alice" I think you would enjoy it. Of course I'm the metal head who just got a real look at ballet for the first time (I've been exposed before but never appreciated it) and is just head over heal agog (is that a word?) with the entire art. I've love classical for years (Mozart and Metallica have more in common that Mozart and Hank Williams), but I've never done ballet. It was so F**KING cool.

Wait, wait, non of my business, and if you feel like mentioning it, you will (and all the details could be in december and january that I haven't read yet)
